Schedule Your Tournament from Your Phone
You're at the venue an hour before doors open, the organiser's chat lights up, and someone asks when the round-robin wraps. You'd love to check the schedule, maybe push the afternoon slot back thirty minutes so people get a proper lunch. But opening Score7's scheduler on your phone used to mean pinch-zooming through a form designed for a laptop.
That ends now. The scheduler form is fully responsive on phones — no horizontal scrolling, no cramped controls, no fields disappearing off the edge of the screen. It's the same mobile-first thinking behind managing your tournament from your phone, now extended to scheduling.
What changed
Every paired or grouped field in the scheduler now wraps as a single unit. Either the fields sit on one row, or they all collapse to stacked — never one field stranded on its own line.
That applies to:
- Match duration (hours + minutes)
- Minimum rest time (days + hours + minutes)
- Max matches per day (per team and per referee)
- Minimum gap between rounds / legs / stages (days + hours + minutes)
- Excluded-date start and end (the two dates always stay together)
Day and time slot rows behave the same way. The day name and enable/disable checkbox sit on top, time pickers sit below, and on the narrowest phones (anything under about 400 pixels) each time picker gets its own line so they stay large enough to tap.
Add time slot, remove time slot, and remove excluded-date buttons are now sized for touch — 44×44 pixels minimum, big enough to hit comfortably without zooming.
A real scenario
You're organising a weekend 5-a-side tournament with two pitches and eight teams. You're on your phone, standing outside the venue, and you want to set everything up before the first teams arrive.
- Open your tournament and go to the Scheduler page.
- Pick a start date of today. Leave the timezone on your local setting.
- Under Day and time slots, enable Saturday. Set one slot to 09:00–12:00. Tap Add time slot and set a second one to 14:00–17:00 — that gives everyone a lunch break.
- Enable Sunday the same way with a single 10:00–15:00 slot.
- Add your two venue names: Pitch A and Pitch B.
- Set match duration to 30 minutes and minimum rest time to 1 hour.
- Tap Max matches per day and set 3 per team — nobody plays more than three games in a day.
- Hit generate.
Every field above reads cleanly at 360px. No zooming, no scrolling sideways. The paired fields (Hours/Minutes, Days/Hours/Minutes) either sit neatly on one row or stack completely — the awkward in-between state is gone.
Desktop looks the same
If you were happy with the scheduler on desktop before, you still are. This is a mobile-only improvement — the desktop layout is byte-for-byte unchanged.
What's still coming
A couple of things remain on the roadmap:
- The time picker's tiny internal Clear and OK buttons (around 30px) will get a proper mobile time picker treatment in a later release.
- A sticky submit button on long scheduler forms so you don't have to scroll back to the top after adding many exclusion dates.
But the big one — the scheduler being effectively unusable on a phone — is fixed. Pull out your phone, open your tournament, and set the schedule from wherever you are.
