How to Enter Match Results
Entering Match Results in Score7
Once your tournament is underway, you can start recording results for each match. Score7 makes this quick and flexible—whether you're entering a final score or handling more complex formats like sets.
Match results automatically update the standings, brackets, and public view.
How to Enter a Match Result
- Go to the Matches section in your tournament
- Locate the match you want to update
- Click Update Result
- Enter the score for each team or participant
- Save the result
The winner is automatically determined based on the score, and standings are updated instantly.
Set-Based Sports (Tennis, Volleyball, Badminton, etc.)
For sports scored by sets rather than a single score:
- In the Update Result window, click Add Score to add set rows
- Enter each set’s score (e.g., 6–4, 5–7, 6–3 for tennis)
- You can add up to 5 sets per match
- The winner is automatically calculated based on the number of sets won
- You can delete individual sets if needed
Standing criteria for set-based sports: When using sets, you can enable set-specific ranking criteria in your standings: Sets Played, Sets Won, Sets Lost, and Sets Difference. These work alongside the standard criteria like Points and Score Difference.
Standing points override: In sports like volleyball, a 3-0 set win might earn 3 points while a 3-2 win earns only 2 points. You can override the standing points for each match individually (see below).
Overriding the Winner
Sometimes the match result may not reflect the actual outcome (e.g., forfeits, walkovers, rules-based decisions).
To override:
- Use the three-way toggle (Home / Draw / Away) to manually select the winner
- The Draw option only appears when draws are allowed for the tournament format
This will still display the score but use your selected winner for standings and bracket advancement.
For Round-Robin: Standing Points Override
In round-robin formats, you can override the points each participant receives for a specific match:
- After entering the result, expand the Standing Points section
- Enter a custom point value for each participant (range: any integer between -1,000,000,000 and +1,000,000,000)
- This overrides the default win/draw/loss point allocation for that match only
This is useful for:
- Volleyball — giving 3 points for a 3-0 or 3-1 win, but only 2 points for a 3-2 win
- Forfeits — awarding 0 points instead of a full win
- Bonus points — rewarding performance beyond the result
Recording a Walkover
If a participant forfeits or doesn't show up for a specific match, you can record it as a walkover instead of entering scores:
- Open the match and click Update Result
- Toggle the walkover option
- Choose which side wins
- Save
The score area will display "W.O." instead of numeric scores. Walkover wins are worth the same points as regular wins in the standings. The losing participant stays active for all their other matches.
To withdraw a participant from the entire tournament (not just one match), see How to Withdraw a Participant.
Voiding a Match
When both participants in a match are withdrawn, you can void the match:
- Open the match and click Update Result
- Check the "Void match" checkbox (available when both participants are withdrawn)
- Save
Voided matches show "Voided" between the two participants. They count as played in the standings but award zero points and no win, draw, or loss.
What Happens After You Save
- The match result appears on the public page
- The winner advances in knockout formats
- Standings are recalculated automatically in group stages
- Player stats (if applicable) can now be added
