How to Correct or Delete a Match Result

Fixing Match Results in Score7

Entered the wrong score? Forgot to update a result? No problem. Score7 lets you easily correct or delete match results at any time—whether you're in a group stage or knockout bracket.

This article shows you how to make updates quickly and accurately.

Option 1: Correct the Match Result

  1. Go to the Matches section in your tournament
  2. Find the match with the incorrect result
  3. Click Update Result
  4. Adjust the score or set-based details
  5. Save the changes

If the winner stays the same (e.g., fixing a score from 2–0 to 3–0):

  • Bracket advancement and downstream results are preserved — nothing is disrupted
  • Player stats (goals, cards, etc.) are kept
  • Standings update to reflect the corrected scores (goals for/against)

If the winner changes (e.g., correcting from a home win to an away win):

  • Standings are fully recalculated
  • Bracket advancement is updated to reflect the new winner
  • Player stats for that match are removed (you can re-enter them)

Tip: If you're just fixing a score typo and the winner is the same, your bracket and stats are completely safe.

Option 2: Delete the Result Completely

If the match shouldn't have been played or needs to be re-entered from scratch:

  1. Open the Matches section
  2. Click Delete Result next to the match
  3. Confirm the deletion

This will:

  • Remove the result from the match
  • Reset the status to "not played"
  • Erase related stats and outcomes

Note: Deleting a result also clears player stats entered for that match.

When Should You Delete Instead of Edit?

  • The match was scored incorrectly and played in the wrong round or format
  • You need to fully reset a pairing or schedule
  • The teams involved were incorrect due to bracket edits

If only the score was wrong, editing is faster and keeps existing structure intact.

What About Player Stats?

If you've entered stats:

  • Editing the result keeps stats unless you manually change them
  • Deleting the result removes associated stats

You can always re-enter them after correcting the match.
