Editing Match Rules: Points, Legs, and Stages
Customizing Match Rules in Your Tournament
After creating your tournament, Score7 gives you flexible options to adjust how matches are scored and structured—based on the format you selected. You can customize win/loss points, number of legs, group settings, knockout seeding, and more.
All of these settings are found in the Overview section.
Accessing Match Rule Settings
- Go to your tournament
- Click on Overview from the left menu
- Scroll to the Tournament Settings section
- Edit the settings available based on your format
For Round-Robin Tournaments (League or Group Stage)
You can configure:
Number of Legs
- Choose whether teams play each other once, twice, or more.
- Example: “2 legs” means home and away matches between each pair.
Point System
- Customize how many points are awarded for:
- Win
- Draw
- Loss
- This works well for sports like football, where a win is typically 3 points.
Group Stage Settings (if multistage)
- Set the number of groups
- Choose how many participants advance to the next stage
This controls promotion into knockout rounds after the group stage ends.
For Knockout Brackets
You can configure:
First Round Seeding
- Seeded: participants are placed in order of entry
- Random: brackets are shuffled randomly
Third Place Match
- Enable or disable a match between the semifinal losers to determine 3rd place
This is useful if you want a complete podium or for competitions that award 3rd place recognition.
Important Notes
- Settings depend on the format you selected when creating the tournament.
- You cannot switch formats (e.g., from single-stage to multistage) after creation. To change structure, create a new tournament.
- All rule settings can be adjusted before or during the tournament—Score7 will update future fixtures accordingly.
