How to Transfer Tournament Ownership
Transferring tournament ownership
If you need to hand over a tournament to someone else — maybe a co-organizer is taking over, or you're passing a recurring league to a new admin — Score7 lets the current owner transfer full ownership to another user.
This is a Premium feature.
How to transfer ownership
- Go to the Access section of your tournament (visible to the Owner and Admins)
- Click Transfer Ownership
- Enter the email address of the new owner
- Confirm the transfer
The target user must already have a Score7 account. If they don't, they'll need to create one first.
What happens after the transfer
- The new owner gets full control of the tournament — settings, participants, matches, results, access management, and the ability to transfer ownership again
- The previous owner becomes an Editor on the tournament — they can still enter results and player stats, but can no longer manage settings, participants, or access
- The tournament's active slot now counts against the new owner's plan, not the previous owner's
Important considerations
- Active tournament limits: If the tournament is active (had a result entered in the last 30 days), it will count toward the new owner's active tournament limit. Make sure the new owner's plan has room.
- Premium features: If the tournament used Premium features, the new owner (or someone with access) needs a Premium subscription to continue editing those features. Without it, the tournament is viewable but locked from further Premium edits.
- One-way action: There is no "undo" — the new owner would need to transfer it back manually.
- Access list: The existing admin and editor list stays intact after the transfer. The new owner can manage this list going forward.
