How to Create a Team-Based Tournament

Running a Team-Based Tournament with Score7

Score7 supports both individual and team-based tournaments. If your competition involves players grouped into teams—like football, basketball, volleyball, or esports—you’ll want to enable teams in your tournament setup.

Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Choose a Team Sport (Automatically Enables Teams)

When creating a new tournament, Score7 will automatically enable team mode if:

  • You select a known team sport (e.g. football, volleyball)
  • Or you type in a custom sport that is recognized as a team sport

Once the tournament is created, the Participants section will appear as Teams and include options for managing players inside each team.

Step 2: Enable Teams Manually (Optional)

If you’ve selected an individual sport but want to switch to team-based management:

  1. Open the Advanced section in the left-hand menu.
  2. Enable the option: Teams Enabled.
  3. The Participants section will now support team-based structure and player management.

Step 3: Add Teams

Go to the Teams section and click Update Teams to:

  • Add team names
  • Upload logos or avatars
  • Use Bulk Edit to paste team names in one go

Step 4: Add Players to Each Team

With teams enabled, you can assign players to each team:

  1. Click Update Players
  2. Select a team
  3. Add, rename, or remove players as needed
  4. Optionally upload player avatars or logos

You can also use Bulk Edit to update a whole team’s roster quickly.

Step 5: Customize Settings and Track Stats

When teams and players are set up, you can:

  • Track match results for each team
  • Enter player-specific statistics (goals, assists, cards, etc.) for supported sports like football
  • View aggregated player stats in the Stats section

Note: Player stats are available only for football-type sports. For others, team results are still tracked.

Tips for Team-Based Setup

  • Team names and player rosters can be edited at any time, even during the tournament.
  • Teams and player data can be imported/exported via CSV for faster setup.
  • Player stats are optional—if you don’t need them, you can focus on team results only.
